Happy Holiday, my fellow tech savvy friends! It's Social Media Day!

Us social media obsessed people are happy to celebrate the fourth annual Social Media Day, originated by Mashable! Social Media Day was launched in 2010 as a way to recognize the digital revolution happening right before our eyes. To celebrate social media enthusiasts across the country attend (or host) a Social Media Day Meetup (for a full list of local meetups, click here).

In Detroit, the place to be on Social Media Day is MotorCity Casino for their annual bash, where I have been partaking in the festivities in 2011 and 2012.  In previous years, I broadcasted live with my co-host Joe Carioti on Social Media Meltdown however this year we've decided to actually enjoy ourselves and mingle with the other attendees.

3. Start-Up DetroitThis section was such a hit in 2012, we're bringing it back this year.  We're going to have an area just for local start-ups so you can get to know these folks before they're famous.  Some might even be hiring so don't be shy about introducing yourself.
4. Day of (more details to be added shortly)Doors open at 6p.m. and things are planned to wrap up around 10. We're likely going to have an afterparty - stay tuned for updates! 
5. Bring Your Gadgets.There's free Wi-Fi and given all the great photo, posting and blogging opportunities, the security frisking will be well worth it :-) Plus a constant stream on trending topics is a nice way to brag to all your friends that you were at the party of the summer.

This past Saturday, June 30, I attended Social Media Day Detroit at MotorCity Casino in Detroit with the rest of the Social Media Meltdown cast and crew. Alongside other fellow enthusiasts in Detroit, everyone came together to celebrate the re-birth of the city: the start-ups, the entrepreneurial spirit, the fascination with The D, and the social media that ties all these things together.

To showcase the great minds and companies in Detroit, we did a series of interviews for Social Media Meltdown with some awesome people in the industry. These interviews streamed live online during the event but in case you missed them, we've posted them here!

Social Media Day Detroit was in its third year running this year and it was bigger and cooler than ever.

Yesterday I had the opportunity, with a few other Detroit bloggers, to sit down and interview Kirk Maltby, Red Wing alumni, at the Official Red Wings Viewing Party at MotorCity Casino.

Maltby talks about how retirement life is treating him and his family as well as how he feels about the currently injured Wings team and what it's like to watch the games at home.  He also shares with us a lot of his favorite memories being with the Red Wings.

I'm in the process of editing all the footage I got at tonight's Official Red Wing Viewing Party at MotorCity Casino... especially the interview of Kirk Maltby.

During the game I was able to sit hang out and talk with Kirk Maltby before our interview.  We talked about social media and blogging and everyone kind of just gave him and overview of what we're doing up here in the Social Media Command Center at the DRWparty.

I have been invited by the MotorCity Casino social media and marketing department to come down to their Official Red Wing Viewing Party tonight and get my vlog on.  They're hooking me up, along with a few other bloggers, with access to a private box where we can have access to our computers, internet and chargers.  We also get to interview Kirk Maltby, a Red Wing alumni.

I'm really excited!  I can't wait to share my footage!
