Girly Nerdy Goodness Season 2 Promo

My podcast, Girly Nerdy Goodness, is getting ready to embark on a second season!  And with it, this season brings a whole new format, better content, more audience engagement, and a new theme song...

The new theme song was written by an incredibly talented friend of mine, Myke, and was sponsored by MURDERCORP.

We expect Girly Nerdy Goodness to be back on the air in early January so keep your eyes (and ears) open!

What Would Jesus Buy?

Title:  What Would Jesus Buy?

Type:  documentary

Netflix Synopsis:  Taking on rampant American consumerism with a focus on Christmas shopping, the Rev. Billy (Bill Talen) and the Church of Stop Shopping go on a cross-country journey to save citizens from the Shopocalypse in this hilarious documentary produced by Morgan Spurlock.  Reminding shoppers of the true meaning of Christmas, Reverend Billy exorcises demons at Wal-Mart's headquarters and preaches his message at the Mall of America and Disneyland.

What I Thought:  First off, this man is a nutter.  Completely insane.  However, he is quite the entertainer.  I completely disagreed with everything he said and did and yet I could take my eyes off the screen.  Rev. Billy sings and dances and preaches to get his message across to shoppers and all I could think was that I wish he was around my town on Black Friday.  I would have welcomed his entertainment while I waited hours in line in the freezing cold.  As for the Church of Stop Shopping, I'm convinced that all those people were just along for the ride so they could have a good laugh at Billy's expense.  Although it is listed as a social, cultural, and political documentary, I watched it as a comedy.

The People That Annoy Me On Twitter

(via girlynerdygoodness.com)

With a little encouragement from the guys at Just Cool Enough, I have reformatted my previous segment, "Internet Find" on Girly Nerdy Goodness, into a new segment that chronicles my relationships with social networking and with the internet as a whole!

If you follow me on Twitter, which you should be (@katelynshelby), then you are probably aware of my goal to make my 10,000th tweet at midnight on New Years Eve at midnight.  To make this happen, I have to tweet roughly 40 times a day!  So I've been spending a lot of time on Twitter and, boy oh boy, do some of you annoy me...

Announcing Girly Nerdy Goodness Season 2!

If you follow my podcast, you may have noticed that the GNG girls and myself have been absent from the internet for the past month.  That is because we have finished our first podcasting season and are preparing ourselves for a second season.

We're going to pretend that this was all planned out beforehand and not just a perfect storm of all four of us suddenly becoming really busy IRL.  We even finished off the last season with a cliffhanger (that being the fact that you all thought we'd be doing new episodes each week for the last month and a half, and we did not do so).

Anyway, Season 2 is going to be even more awesome than the first.  We're going to bring you some new features, guest stars, contests, and more.  The next season will begin mid-December, but we'll bring you more details about that as the date draws nearer.  Until then, we're going to post a lot more content on our website that we think you'll find entertaining.  You can visit us on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr if you just can't get enough of GNG.  (And who could blame you, really?!)

You can call me Reverend Davis!

This week I became an ordained minister!  I did this mainly because one of my life goals is to perform a marriage ceremony for some friends at some point so I figured I should get prepared.

I'm really excited because I was informed that my ordination as a minister also allows me to establish my own congregation.  I just need to find something absurd to start a church around... like the flying spaghetti monster.

I'm baaacckk!

After a long hiatus, I'm back to the world of blogging!

I've spent the last few months moving home from college and back in with my parents after four years of being on my own, which has been quite the adjustment for all those involved.  I'm also desperately searching for an advertising and public relations job in Metro Detroit but so far, no luck.

Anyway, enjoy reading about my life's journey and hopefully you'll get to witness me accomplish everything I've ever wanted.

I graduated!

Yesterday I proudly walked across the stage at commencements and was awarded the one thing I have been living for for the past four years.  Finally, all my hard work and sacrifice paid off.

I received my bachelor of science degree from Grand Valley State University in Advertising and Public Relations.

Now that I have this fancy paper, I need to find a job!
