Weekly Wrap Up: October 7 - 13

Were you out for the count this week? Too busy to keep up with this week's big tech and social media news? It's okay, I've got you covered!
  • Apple Begins Production of iPad Mini - Asian suppliers for Apple have started mass production of a new tablet smaller than the current iPad with a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display, executives at component makers said.
  • Some iPhone 5 Users Have Flickering Screens - The first reports started showing up on Apple’s Support Communities as soon as the device launched. The main thread for the issue is over 12 pages long with reports of the issue. Are you seeing an issue?
  • Want Button - After months of talk, it's finally official: Facebook is testing a "Want" button.
  • The iPhone 5′s Launch Boosted the Air Cargo Industry - FedEx restricted employee vacation and training to prepare for a surge in volume when the new iPhone came out. After all, if you sell more than 5 million units in three days, the only way to get them over from Asia is to fly them.
  • Facebook Cuts Back On Open Graph Actions - Facebook giveth and Facebook taketh. When FB first talked about the Open Graph at last year's f8 developer conference, there was the promise of a whole slew of apps that would feed into the ticker and news feed. But after more than a year, Facebook is cutting back on the types of actions that are allowed--presumably due to spam or messy use cases.
  • iPad Mini to Be Revealed October 23 - The latest rumor says: The iPad Mini (Apple’s unconfirmed cheaper and smaller version of the iPad tablet) will be unveiled on October 23, citing people familiar with Apple's plans. The iPad Mini was widely rumored to be revealed Oct. 17, with invitations supposedly coming Oct. 10, the invites never came.
And here are some fun things around the internet that you might find interesting!
