Stratos Revolutionizes Mobile Payments

This week marks the debut of another Made in Michigan innovation, this time from Ann Arbor-based Stratos, who announced last week that it finished raising $5.8 million to fund its growth..

The company, headed by CEO Thiago Olson, and co-founders Chris Bartenstein and Henry Balanon, aims to redefine mobile payments.

Forget ApplePay (hardly any retailers have the point of sale). Stratos is the industry's first physical payment card that consolidates an unlimited amount of cards into one. The Stratos Bluetooth Connected Card, which the company has worked on for three years, is roughly the same size and weight of a standard credit card, but it's electronic and can be accepted anywhere.

"There's one card and there's one computer embedded with it," Olson said. "We have a unique stripe technology on the back that allows it to change. One second it's swiping as if it's my AmEx card, the next it's swiping as my debit card or my loyalty card."

Stratos can be used anywhere including bars, gas stations, ATMs, vending machines, and bakeries. Anywhere you would swipe your card to pay! You can even load in your favorite stores' loyalty cards to be swiped as well.

On Tuesday, Stratos launched its company website and began accepting orders. For more information visit stratoscard.com.
